the attic

March 3, 2011

I am no stranger to the attic. I grew up in one and now I still live in one. Part of the charm of the attic is that it starts off as a blank tapestry,   Converting a space that was meant for storage into a living space is no easy take, it takes a lot of creativity for one to be happy with the end result. As a general rule in converting attic spaces: you must work with what you’re given. You can not force an idea in because the space is limited as it is. To create a truly unique and one-of-kind room you need to accept the room for what it is, an attic. Don’t mess with the funky angles, the low ceilings, the knobby cross beams,  the multiple tiers, and hand rails.
